What makes this machine different: the mirror-polished finish. Most wrapping
machines are specified to disappear into a service area; this one is specified to be seen. The
stainless body is polished to a reflective finish that picks up the lighting around it, which is why
it tends to end up in hotel forecourts, corporate receptions and gallery entrances rather than back
of house. Mechanically it is the same dual chute unit as our satin and painted models, so the choice
between them is purely about how the entrance should look.
Umbrella Wrapping Machine, Dual Chute
An umbrella wrapping machine sleeves a wet umbrella in a thin waterproof bag as the visitor draws
it downward. There is no motor and nothing to switch on. The bag is already loaded and waiting, so
the action takes about two seconds and the water leaves with the person carrying it instead of
pooling on your floor.
This model carries two chutes side by side. The narrow chute takes folding umbrellas, the wide one
takes full-length golf umbrellas, and both work independently. During a downpour that difference
decides whether a queue forms at your door or not.
Why mirror stainless
Mirror stainless is the most demanding finish to keep looking right, and also the most rewarding
when the entrance is well lit. It shows fingerprints more readily than satin, so it suits venues with
a cleaning round rather than unattended sites. Where an entrance already uses polished metal on door
furniture, handrails or lift surrounds, this finish reads as part of the fitout instead of as
equipment parked near the door.
Built for weather, not for occasional use
The frame is stainless throughout, so splashback and constant contact with wet fabric do not mark
it. The base plate is wide enough that the unit stays put when someone pulls an umbrella through in a
hurry, and there is nothing to bolt down. It arrives ready to stand where you want it.
Two thousand bags between refills
Each load holds up to 2,000 bags across the two chutes. In practice that covers a long wet spell
without staff attention. When it does run low, the compartment opens from the top and a new roll
drops in. Bag refills are stocked in Australia, so you are not waiting on an
overseas order in the middle of winter.
Where it earns its place
Wet floors are the most common slip hazard in a public building, and the wettest square metres are
the first three inside the door. Capturing the water at that point is cheaper than mopping it all
day, and considerably cheaper than an incident report. A wrapping machine also protects lift
carpets, timber floors and stair nosings that are expensive to refinish.
